Bookkeeping built for law firm owners.
Day-to-day bookkeeping, monthly close, and trust
account work for solo and small firms. Built around
how law firms actually operate.
What We Offer
What we handle for your firm. We keep your books clean, current, and ready for whatever comes next, whether that’s a tax filing, a
partner review, an audit, or a growth decision you
need clean numbers to make.
Day-to-day bookkeeping. We record, categorize, and
reconcile every transaction so your books reflect
reality. Operating account, credit cards, expense
accounts, all caught up and accurate.
Monthly close and reporting. Bank, credit card, and
trust account reconciliations every month. Profit and
loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports built for
how law firms actually operate, not generic small
business templates.
IOLTA and trust accounting. Three-way
reconciliation, trust account oversight, and the kind of
detail compliance reviewers look for. No mixed funds,
no surprises.
QuickBooks setup and cleanup. If your books are
behind, unclear, or just plain wrong, we’ll get them
current. If you’re starting fresh, we’ll set QuickBooks
up specifically for law firm workflows.
Why We're Different
Most bookkeepers can keep operating books straight. Trust accounting is where it gets specific to law firms, and that’s where most generalists get out of their depth.
Three-way reconciliation, IOLTA compliance, contingency cost tracking, retainer handling: these aren’t edge cases for a law firm, they’re the actual work. We built our practice around getting them right.
If you’ve ever had a tax CPA, a previous bookkeeper, or a regulator find a problem in your trust account, you know what’s at stake. Our job is to make sure that never lands on your desk.
How It Works
- Discovery call. Free 15 or 30-minute call. You tell
us what’s going on with your books. We tell you what’s
involved in fixing it. - Setup or cleanup. If you need books brought
current, we do that first. If you’re starting clean, we
configure QuickBooks for your firm and integrate the
accounts. - Monthly rhythm. Books stay current. You get
reports each month and a clear view of where the
business stands. We flag anything that needs your
attention before it becomes a problem.
Client Success Stories
Frequently Asked Questions
How is law firm bookkeeping different from regular small business bookkeeping?
The bookkeeping software is the same. The work isn’t. Law firms have to keep client funds completely separate from operating funds, reconcile trust accounts to the penny, and document everything in a way that holds up to state bar review. A generalist bookkeeper can keep your operating books clean. Trust accounting, IOLTA compliance, three-way reconciliation, and retainer tracking are where the
work gets specific to your firm, and where mistakes get expensive.
Do you handle IOLTA and trust account compliance?
Yes. Three-way reconciliation every month (bank statement, trust ledger, client ledger), full trust account oversight, and clean records ready for state bar review. If your trust accounting has been handled
inconsistently or has never been audited internally, we’ll start with a full review before anything else.
My books are behind. Can you get them caught up?
Yes. Cleanup is a regular part of our work. Most cleanups involve three to twelve months of unreconciled transactions, miscategorized expenses, or trust accounts that haven’t been properly tracked. We’ll review what’s there, give you a clear scope and timeline, and bring everything current before we start the monthly rhythm.
Can I keep my current CPA or tax preparer?
Yes. We work alongside your tax CPA, not in place of one. Clean monthly books make their job significantly easier and often reduce what you pay them at yearend. We prepare a year-end package for your CPA so they’re not chasing down records in March.
What software do you use?
QuickBooks Online, configured specifically for law firm workflows. If you’re already on QuickBooks, we’ll work with what you have and clean up the setup if needed.
How much does this cost?
Monthly bookkeeping is a flat rate based on transaction volume, trust account activity, and whether you need cleanup before we start. We’ll cover specifics on the discovery call so the quote matches what your firm actually needs. No setup fees, no surprise charges.
